Officially established in 1980, Waterloo Regional Homes for Mental Health Inc. has been serving the community for 30 years. But our roots go back even further. In the early 1970’s, mental health professionals and other concerned citizens recognized the lack of decent, affordable, supportive housing for individuals with psychiatric disabilities and did something about it!
Now, 30 years later, WRHMH has grown from a single, eight-bedroom group home to providing more than 300 subsidized accommodations and serving more than 1,140 individuals.
Our subsidized accommodations include properties in Waterloo Region, Guelph/Wellington and Dufferin Counties. WRHMH owns 11 properties and provides access to additional subsidized, one-bedroom apartments.
Early on, WRHMH recognized that supporting individuals with mental health issues in their effort to be part of the community is as important as providing housing. Individuals receive a personal, flexible range of support services from 24/7 assistance to monthly contact.
Support is offered through programs including:
Housing
Outreach and Short Term Support
Long Term Support
Assertive Community Treatment Team
Crisis Respite Residential Program
